DAA operates out of a modern facility constructed in 2010. Located at the Greater Sudbury Airport (CYSB) the building has plenty of office and classroom space and a 13,000 square foot hangar floor. DAA also has its own Approved Maintenance Organization which, in addition to maintaining its own fleet, does third party maintenance for Bearskin Airlines, the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, and many private clients.
Becoming a pilot is one of life’s most challenging and rewarding adventures. A career in aviation is an opportunity to get paid to do what you love. Many young boys and girls dream of one day becoming an airline pilot and flying all over the world.
For those students wishing to enhance their flight training with a post-secondary education, DAA has partnered with Cambrian College to allow students in their Business Fundamentals program an opportunity to obtain commercial flight training.
Greater Sudbury is a city of just over 157,000 and serves as the regional capital of Northeastern Ontario. It is just a 4 hour drive north of Toronto. "I like the use of humour, alternate examples, videos, and demonstrations with props. Problem scenarios have been helpful as we've had to use the information just learned to solve a problem. This makes it less of a memorizing thing. Examples of personal experiences also have a really positive effect on the learning experience."

At DAA, we are 100% committed to our students’ career progression from the moment they step in the door until they are in an aviation career that they love. We have been doing this with our fire detection pilots for years, working hard to place them into positions with Bearskin Airlines, Air Georgian, Air Canada, and many more.
DAA provides commercial air operator training to new Fire Detection Pilots coming into Discovery Air Fire Services. This training includes a number of different modules such as surface contamination, survival training, controlled flight into terrain (CFIT), line indoctrination, and safety management system (SMS) training.
With over 160 aircraft, Discovery Air is one of the largest air operators in Canada. It employs more than 900 flight crew, maintainers, and support staff to deliver a variety of air transport, maintenance, and logistics solutions to its government, airline, and business customers.
Discovery flights are for those interested in aviation and want to experience what it’s like to fly an airplane. You will go up with one of our instructors and have the chance to take the controls of the Cessna 172 Skyhawk. A Discovery Flight is the first step to see if you have what it takes to become a pilot.
